Report an error
How to report an error
Write to support@tradingsuite.io. There is no form to fill in and no need to register: an email is enough.
Error reports are the most useful thing that reaches us. An archive holding twenty-two years of accounts on dozens of companies contains errors, and someone reading a page for a specific reason often notices before we do.
This page is for corrections to the data. The terms for reusing the numbers are in the license; how they are built is in how we work with data.
What to write
Three pieces of information are enough, and with those the correction starts straight away:
| Information | Example |
|---|---|
| The page | the address, for instance a company’s fundamentals page |
| The number | which value does not add up, and where it sits on the page |
| What it should say | the right value, if you know it, and where you take it from |
If you do not know the right value, that is fine too: even “this figure looks wrong to me and I cannot see why” is a useful report. Many errors are found exactly that way.
How long we take to reply
We read everything. We reply on working days, normally within two or three days.
The reply always says one of three things: that the figure was wrong and when it will be corrected, that the figure is right and why, or that we have not managed to work it out yet and are looking into it. The third answer is the least satisfying, but it is honest, and we give it.
How we work a correction
We do not patch the page by hand. We correct at the source, that is in the archive, and the correction reaches every page on the next nightly run: the one the following day.
That is why a correction takes a night rather than a minute. A patch on a single page would disappear at the next regeneration and the error would come back: it would look solved without being solved.
If the error concerns a measure we calculate ourselves — a yield, a coverage ratio, a surprise against expectations — the correction touches the way it is calculated, so it shows up on every company at once and not only on the one reported.
What is not an error
Some things look like errors and are not, and they are worth stating here.
A price different from the one you see elsewhere is usually not an error: we show the close, with its date, while many sites show the price during the session. They are two different numbers answering two different questions.
A dash instead of a number is not an error: it means that figure is not in the archive. We prefer a declared gap to an invented zero, because a fake zero reads as information when it is the opposite.
A page still showing yesterday is not an error: it means the nightly run stopped at the checks and left the previous version online. The date on the page always says so.
For everything else
The same address, support@tradingsuite.io, is also where you write to ask for a license to use the data, to report a link that does not work, or to suggest an instrument or a measure you would like to find on the pages.
Requests for missing instruments are welcome. If what you are after is how a chart pattern or an indicator works rather than a figure, the lessons of the Trading Encyclopedia are free to read and need no account.
What we do with your email
We use your address only to reply to you about your report. We do not sign it up to a newsletter, we do not pass it to anyone, and we do not use it to send you commercial offers.
If your report leads to a correction, your name appears nowhere unless you ask us to put it there.
Who answers
The DOMINA data desk answers: the same desk that holds editorial responsibility for what is published on these pages. There is no automated switchboard in between.
The method we work by — the sources, the nightly run, the checks, what we do not do — is written out in full in how we work with data. The last close the pages are built on as you read is ; the first public pages went out on , the dividend and quarterly-results pages on , and the commodity pages on .
Where to go next
The lessons of the Trading Encyclopedia are free to read, and the platform is where the charts, the screening and the comparisons live. Everything on this page applies to both.
DOMINA’s stock pages, indices and commodities are rebuilt every night. Leave your email: we write to you when the picture changes.
